An original cast recording of the hit Gershwin tuner Nice Work If You Can Get It, starring Matthew Broderick and Kelli O’Hara, will be released digitally on September 25 and on CD October 30. The album will be released by Shout! Factory, distributed by Sony Music Distribution and produced by Robert Sher, David Chase and Bill Elliott.
Featuring music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin and an original book by Joe DiPietro, the show's album will include 28 classic songs including “Sweet and Lowdown,” “I’ve Got to Be There,” “Let’s Call The Whole Thing Off,” “Someone to Watch Over Me” and more.
Set in the 1920s, Nice Work If You Can Get It is the story of Jimmy Winter (Broderick), a wealthy playboy who falls in love with rough-and-tough bootlegger Billie Bendix (O’Hara) on the weekend of his nuptials. Directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, Nice Work If You Can Get It opened on April 24 and is currently playing at Broadway’s Imperial Theatre.
In addition to Broderick and O’Hara, Nice Work If You Can Get It stars Judy Kaye as Estonia Dulworth, Michael McGrath as Cookie McGee, Jennifer Laura Thompson as Eileen Evergreen, Terry Beaver as Senator Max Evergreen, Jeannie Muldoon as Robyn Hurder, Stanley Wayne Mathis as Chief Berry, Estelle Parsons as Millicent Winter and Chris Sullivan as Duke Mahoney. Kaye and McGrath earned 2012 Tony Awards for their performances.
